Chuckureese Abattoir Ltd. is a family owned Abattoir nestled in Lister, BC. Curtis and Megan moved to Creston to be close to Megan’s family. Curtis is originally from Ontario and Megan is from Merritt, BC. In 2016 they built the abattoir as they saw a need in the community. Their farm is located on 10 acres in sunny Lister, just 10 minutes outside of Creston. Curtis has been working full time on the farm since the summer of 2020. Megan is a care aid in town, but on processing days you will find her on the farm.
Curtis and Megan raise top quality poultry. Their chickens and turkeys are pasture raised during the summer months. The farm is very clean, as it is important for the chicken’s health and alternately ours. All of their poultry are on special nutritional diets formulated by nutritionists.
You can also find farm fresh eggs at Chuckureese. There are 85 laying hens that are free range during the summer months, and enjoy a warm, clean nesting barn in the winter months.
Being the only poultry abattoir in the area, they are busy! Chuckureese offers custom processing twice a week and these dates book up fast! Customers will book their processing dates a year in advance.
If you want your organic turkey on the table for Christmas or Thanksgiving, be sure to order months ahead. To have a whole chicken reserved one week in advance is usually enough time.
